Which package should we choose? We are looking for a simple ceremony.
If you would like the longer scripted and personalised ceremony that is $1000, legal only ceremony strips this back to the legal wording and if you like sharing of personal vows for $650. I can also help coordinate your guests as an MC and stay with you for the duration of the wedding if you would like, and this as well as the longer personalised ceremony comes to $1200.
What about travel?
I am based in the Macedon Ranges and will not charge for travel for weddings in Daylesford, Gisborne, Macedon, Kyneton, Woodend or surrounding towns. If the wedding is more than an hour away I charge an additional $50 for every hour from my home.
Are there hidden costs?
For weddings beyond a 1 hour drive (around 80km from the Macedon Ranges) I charge $50 for every additional hour beyond the first hour.
Couples who require a legal marriage certificate (for taking your spouse's last name) pay $80 as this fee is charged to me when I register the marriage, you have the option of ordering the certificate yourselves, but this can take longer.
If I raise my prices after we have secured a date, I will honour the original advertised price.
We don't want to have a traditional ceremony, how flexible are you?
Ceremonies being personalised and in the style you design is a passion of mine, finding what works or trying something new that feels like you two. I have composed a booklet with suggestions and ideas which I'm happy to share once we have a date chosen and agreed to work together. I am largely lead by the couple and their vision, I will make suggestions if you're at a loss, but never pressure a couple to do something they're not comfortable with.
I would like my _________(eg. uncle/ sister/ friend) to run the ceremony and have you complete the legal portion, are you able to help with this?
Absolutely! Legal only ceremonies can come in many exciting forms, having a close personal friend or family member script and read the ceremony and 'call me up' essentially for the legal wording and signing is the easiest way to do so. This is also an option for couples having their reception overseas or elsewhere, a great option if you want to get legally married now and throw a big party later to celebrate.
Can we get married on our farm or in a private property?
Yes, absolutely, my only requirement is an address I can enter when lodging the legal paperwork
How do we get legally married in Victoria?
A very simplified overview:
Submit a signed and witnessed Notice of Intended Marriage to a celebrant at least a month beforehand, provide evidence or date and place of birth, former marriages etc, Declare you have no Legal Impediment to Marriage, the celebrant reads a monitum out, you read legal vows to one another and sign with two witnesses and the celebrant.
Are you available x date?
I am currently working as a high school teacher Mon-Thur in Sunbury, with two small children, I only take on a select number of weddings a year compared to celebrants working full time, so I am available for the majority of weekends in the wedding season. If your date is flexible, I will take $100 of the advertised price for weddings in May to September.
Can we meet face to face?
I always prefer this is we are able to do so, or a meeting via Zoom, as it's important to ensure we are right for each other
What time do you arrive on the day and what happens if you're sick?
I'll always be there 45 minutes minimum before the ceremony to help out, settle any nerves or help sort out any mini wedding crises that pop up (you'd be surprised how often this can happen). If I am unable to make the ceremony, there would have to be a significant reason and I am required to transfer the ceremony to a new celebrant. I would involve the couple in this process and check with both parties.
What is we're nervous about speaking in front of people?
This is your day, I will never rush you to stick to a timeline, and can work with you in the way you feel most comfortable. I am there to reassure, guide and assist you through nerves, I also have suggestions for ways to change the ceremony to allow you to feel at ease.
Will you wed queer couples?
Yes, please let me know your love story! Your ceremony will be written around you, using words, names and traditions that feel right. I welcome all couples, love is love.
